About The Continettes
The first “girl group” from Wilmington to release a record, in 1963! They are Debbi Badson, Jackie Hazzard, Valerie Robinson, Ventie Jean Williams, and Shirley Lewis. They were named the Continettes to band them with Teddy & The Continentals. They recorded a record on the Ritchie Record Label and the songs were played quite a bit on local stations. Boys Who Don’t Understand was the A Side and Billy The Kidder was on the B Side .Valerie wrote several of their songs. They attended Wilmington High. The group was very popular, and was a hit at the local dances.
